The many layers of glazing that takes place in the Lucknow wash style was learned by Malcolm as a teen in northern India and still remains his favorite style. His many experiences at and around the Buddhist Monasteries of these geographic locations provided Malcolm with the imagery as well. The subtleties of the flowing saffron robes, which signify holiness or knowledge of God, are achieved though this layering of color, or glazing technique.
