I bow to you at sunrise and give thanks for the upcoming day is how this young mother prepares for daily duties amongst the many inhabitants of the village in which she lives. The brightly colored “saris”, or flowing wraps, stand out in the village against the monochromatic colors of earthen buildings and utensils. The color blue in Hinduism means sacrifice. Malcolm uses this shade of blue in her sari, to amplify her role as a mother, in which highest form of a mother’s love is expressed through sacrifice.
